The Subway Bowl B.C. high school football championships are set for kickoff on Saturday at B.C. Place Stadium.
On Tuesday, the provincial high school football world honoured its best at its annual championship week awards banquet.
Among the top honourees:
At the Triple A tier, explosive running back Marcus Davis of the two-time defending B.C. champion Mt. Douglas Rams was selected the Player of the Year.
Maleek Irons, who leaves B.C. high school football as its all-time leading rusher, was selected the year’s Offensive MVP, while defensive end Zach Wilkinson of Mt. Douglas was picked the Defensive MVP.
At the Double A tier, Mission Roadrunners quarterback Evan Horton was chosen the Player of the Year.
Offensive MVP honours were accorded quarterback Ty Marshall of North Vancouver’s Windsor Dukes, while Defensive MVP honours went to linebacker Brandon Ho of Abbotsford’s Rick Hansen Hurricanes.
